Foot Health is Important

Foot pain and disorders can have a significant impact on the health of the rest of your body. If you think about it, your feet carry your whole body around every day – you might even consider your feet the structural foundation for the rest of your body.

For this reason alone, taking care of your feet is extremely important; if something goes wrong with them, it's not only uncomfortable; it's likely to have an impact on your general health as well.

Common Foot Conditions:

  • General foot pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Bunions & other toe deformities
  • Heel pain
  • Arthritis
  • Flat feet
  • Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Sports-related injuries

What can go wrong with feet?

You may not realize it, but your feet are actually incredibly complex. Together, your two feet contain over 50 bones; that's about a quarter of all the bones in your body.

They also have more than 60 joints, and 200 muscles, tendons and ligaments. And as mentioned above, they have a very tough job; just walking around on them on an average day subjects them to hundreds of tons of force.

Looking at it this way, it's not really surprising that feet can be affected by a whole host of injuries and chronic conditions. There's a lot going on down there!

How can a chiropodist help?

Chiropodists are allied health professionals that treat foot health issues and maintain the overall health of your feet.

They treat individuals with specific health issues, such as sports injuries, diabetes or arthritis, and prescribe any necessary medications as well. Chiropodists also diagnose and treat ulcers, and skin or nail issues related to the feet. However, our chiropodist focuses her practice on biomechanics and gait analysis to evaluate the impact of movement on your foot and the injuries incurred.

Your chiropodist may create custom orthotics for you, prescribe therapies or exercises for treatment, and monitor your progress.
